Ground Instructor endorsement for written test

Asked by: 6027 views FAA Regulations

Say I am a ground instructor(AGI and IGI), if I approve a student to do written test, I need to give him my endorsement like this:

I certify that (First name, MI, Last name) has received the required training in accordance with section 61.105. I have determined He/She is prepared for the Private Pilot Knowledge Test. [DATE] Instructor Name, 1234567CFI, Exp. 12/31/2010

My question is....Since I am AGI, do I need to put Exp. date after endorsement??

Nope you do not need to put the expiration date if you sign with AGI.

Change the [certificate number]CFI to [certificate number]CGI since you are a certified ground instructor.

No William, you sign it with your certificate number as it says verbatim on your Ground Instructor certificate, which will be identicial to your pilot’s license.

I used to just put AGI in the Expiration Date section, but now I just put a – in that column or just leave it blank. There’s enough CGI’s out there that they would realize that when checking the endorsement.

But definitely don’t put CGI at the end of your certificate number, because that is not a valid certificate number.

I learn something new every day…

By the way there is a new 61-65E with the new endorsements for the ATP and R-ATP endorsements. For those who are curious.
