    Yes. You eyes must be correctable to 20/40 to get a third class medical certificate. If all you want to do is to teach flying than all you need is a third class medical. Depending on the student you are teaching, you may not even need a medical certificate.

    If you want to also perform the duties of a commercial pilot or airline transport pilot your eyes will need to be correctable to 20/20 for distant vision and 20/40 for near vision.
