Formation Flying on Left wing. Why it is always difficult ?

why my students have difficult in maintaining formation on left wing ? one reason can be that he cant see the aircraft with the same perspective as on right wing due to side by side seating. But even in tandem seating formatting on left wing seems to be more difficult.

Most of my formation flying is RW verses FW, but same concepts.
Cross cockpit formation flying while not hard is more challenging probably because you have to turn your neck more to see the other airframe in the formation while it is possible to use more peripheral vision when flying formation from your side. You also have more structural interference issues such as beams or bracing.
Now why in tandem… not sure. Never noticed an issue in tandem aircraft.
