Hello,

Can somebody tell me whether the 250Nm IFR XC for the part 61 instrument rating MUST be done with an FAA flight instructor or can it be done with an EASA instructor? Moreover, does that instructor need to have an instrument rating as a pilot(ex CFI) or as an instructor (ex CFII). That's not specified in the fars

    61,41 allows you to credit training received from a flight instructor in a foreign country.

    The regulation states that the flight must be done with an authorized instructor under instrument flight rules. That means an instrument instructor who is current to file the required flight plan.
